After interviewing family member, students presented about their interview result to their classmates to compare the types of community.  It was a very interesting presentation, since they found differences as well as similarities of communities

Unit of Inquiry - Community

In this Unit of Inquiry How we organize ourselves
An inquiry into interconnectedness of human-made systems and communities; the structure and function of organizations; societal decision-making; economic activities and their impact on humankind and the environment , Year 3 learn about Communities provide services designed to meet people’s needs.

In Tuning in activities : students in traffic light activity - were asked about what community is and in pairs they cooperate together to draw a figure from clues given.

In Finding out activities: students did research from internet (websites given), books and interview family member and school member to find out types of community.

To support mathematics learning , they played Monopoly game to learn more about money and applying their measurement skills to draw a community map.
